Run to Win!

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 “You know that many runners enter a race, and only one of them wins the prize. So run to win! Athletes work hard to win a crown that cannot last, but we do it for a crown that will last forever. I don’t run without a goal. And I don’t box by beating my fists in the air. I keep my body under control and make it my slave, so I won’t lose out after telling the good news to others. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” (KJV)

This verse is exactly my heart on this subject. We are not merely raising children, this is a race and there is an evil one that is out to kill and destroy our children/our world so our job as parents is not a responsibility to be taken lightly. There are going to be hard days, times when you feel like you have nothing left to give, nothing left to say. When you are tired of saying the same things over and over again, teaching the same lesson over and over. But that is it, the verse tells us to run with a goal.

We need a goal people. I am raising up a Champion for Christ and that is going to require a whole lot of discipline, consistency, structure, love, dedication, time, and the list goes on. It is not supposed to be easy but we keep our eyes on a GOAL. What type of individual do you want your child to become? I am not saying that you should have the goal that your child should become an NFL player, millionaire, etc. That will not define the Adult they become. "I want my child to be...."

-so in love with Jesus that they dedicate their lives to be all that he calls them to be...
-an honest, loyal, hard working....
-leader in his/her Generation for Christ....

As you come up with this goal statement, write it out somewhere where you can see it daily. The next step is a bit more difficult-Work on becoming this individual yourself because you are the example that your children get to see day in and day out. It's a lot easier when you are writing out what you want them to become but we forget that they are often mirror images of who we are. Thank God that we have a Heavenly Father who does not leave us where we are and is there to lead us as we lead our children on this journey. Take heart that you are running a race that has already been won. Recognize your need for a Savior and lean into him and as you do that, I promise that he will guide you as you guide them. Your children are counting on you. Let's run to win!

A Generation of Honor

It has been a long time coming. My first official blog about a subject so near and so dear to my heart-Parenting. My heart's desire is not to condemn you into thinking that you are a bad parent but to enlighten you, encourage you, and to share with you the truths about parenting that the Lord has made so plain to me. My heart is to see a Generation raised up of Champions for Christ, Leaders, Individuals who are not afraid to stand up for what they believe, are confident in who's they are, and are the change that this world needs to see. Come along on a journey with me. I am so excited about the new revelations that God is going to bring to us as we embark on this crazy and exciting journey called parenting and how in the end he will simply draw us nearer to himself.

2 Timothy 3:14-17 “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it, and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All scripture is inspired by God and is* useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.” (NRSV)
